Mission Report: Another short-notice light painting mission

Another successful mission! Many thanks to Geoff, Evo, Drew and Brett for making it another kick-ass mission. Make sure you watch the entire video – the new stuff is at the end.

Mission Alert: Another short-notice light painting mission tomorrow (Friday)!

Tomorrow night (Friday, October 17) we will be continuing the Light Man saga in Magwood Park near Humbercrest and St. Marks, starting at 8:30ish. See photomissisons.ca for examples of what we’re going for and more details.

** YOU DO NOT NEED A CAMERA FOR THIS MISSION! **

Bring one along if you want, but when doing video light painting, we’re usually only shooting with one camera, but everyone gets the credit. It’s all about the painting – the stuff behind the camera is the easy part.

For this mission, we’re recommending you bring:

- Flashlights! LEDs! Lasers! We need as many different kinds of lights as possible.
- Water (beer) and snacks, since we’ll be out for 4-5 hours.
- Patience, good attitude, and a desire to learn and have fun
- Optional: Camera with manual controls (not usually needed, but it is to do light painting)
- Optional: Tripod, if you have one
- Optional: Cable release/remote control for your camera, if you have one
- Optional: A wide-angle lens, since it’s tough to know what’s in frame in the dark

Matt, Brett and I should be there for 8:30ish. Feel free to call or email for more info. We probably won’t be moving, so come by whenever you like.

See you there.

Mission Alert: A lazy Sunday TODAY (Oct 12) @ 5PM downtown!

That’s right – we’re NOT light painting this time! This is a plain-vanilla downtown photo mission. We’ll be wandering around, so PLEASE CALL my cell if you’re planning on joining us after the 5PM start time. My cell is 416-825-5825.

For this mission, we’re recommending you bring:

- Any type of camera
- Charged batteries and empty memory cards
- Water and snacks, since we’ll be out for 4-5 hours
- Patience, good attitude, and a desire to learn and have fun

You may want to bring along a tripod if you’re not confident in your camera’s low-light abilities, since we’ll be out after dusk.

Rendezvous point is the giant mushroom at the Toronto Sculpture Garden. This is across from St. James Church right at King and Church. It’s a few blocks east of the King subway station.

Matt and I will be under the giant mushroom at 5PM. We’ll hang around for about 30 minutes, then we’ll be going wherever the phototography takes us.

That’s it for now. Again our apologies for the short notice. We’re aiming to give at least 5 days notice for all missions, but Thanksgiving kind of screwed us up for this one.

We’ll see you under the mushroom!

Apologies for the short notice. Thanksgiving has messed up our scheduling here. Anyhow.

Tonight we will be trying out some light painting YET AGAIN in Magwood Park near Humbercrest and St. Marks, starting at 8ish. See photomissisons.ca for examples of what we’re going for and more details.
